Since last Thursday, British artist Julian Beever has been creating one of his famous 3D chalk drawings on the Redondo Beach Pier which is just two blocks from my home. Even though this was a busy day for me – church in the a.m. with a visit from the Bishop for confirmation, followed by prep for the birthday party at my home tonight for my 3-year-old grandson—I made time to walk down to the pier this afternoon before the party. I was not disappointed and it was a gorgeous day besides.
This photo by Slimdandy on Flickr got the perspective much better than the ones I took today. He is shown working on the Redondo Beach drawing for an episode of "Concrete Canvas," a TV series premiering next month that follows him as he draws on sidewalks around the world.
To read all about Beever’s masterpiece right here in my town, this article ran in the Daily Breeze a few days ago.
The man’s work is absolutely amazing although the Hollywood style swimming pool isn’t as dramatic as some of his work around the world you can see in this video on
YouTube—and the music is great, too--The Great Ong of Indifference by Bob Geldof. Now, will someone tell me how I actually insert the YouTube screen right into my blog? I see it done all the time, but I don’t know how it works.
