Reading Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth" has me thinking about Doing and Being, the space between thoughts, and awareness in general. Though I have been writing a lot in my hand-written journal, I haven't spent much time on the computer for the past four days.
I'm underlining half his book, I swear. This in chapter 4, "Role Playing: The Many Faces of the Ego:"
"One With Life. Being one with life is being one with Now. You then realize that you don't live your life, but life lives you. Life is the dancer, and you are the dance."
I've also spent a LOT of time this weekend by Richard Russo's 2007 book, "Bridge of Sighs." This link is from the New York Times. I loved "Empire Falls" and I loved the new book, too--an epic tale of three families over a long period of time in upstate New York. It's a long book and it has a lot of musing in it, lots of flashbacks, and occasionally grew tedious. But I highly recommend it if you are a Russo aficianado. I simply cannot get the characters out of my mind.
