A friend recently recommended a 2006 documentary called "The Cats of Mirikitani." I got it from Netflix and was literally mesmerized. It's the story of a Japanese-American artist living and working on the streets of New York who is befriended by filmmaker Linda Hattendorf. It won the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007 and was featured on PBS and several other stations, but I just heard about it. I can't recommend it enough.
