Last Friday I went to a very interesting garage sale in Manhattan Beach where I picked up some hardware and other objects for use in assemblage. The Victorian hardware's seller was a woman named Susan Jung who says she is an accumulator of stuff and to call and come by her Gardena warehouse sometime as she has all kinds of things from free to reasonable for people who make collage, mixed media and assemblage.
I took her up on that and visited for an hour this afternoon. OMG, as the kids say. It is a large space and as it turns out, she formerly owned an antique store in Redondo Beach and she repairs, clocks, watches, and lamps--as well as being a fashion designer and artist herself. She puts many of her "things" in antique shops, sells at the swap meets, and certain artists seek her out. She also sells antique books on the Internet. Here's a few photos of what I saw--and I took a few sackfuls of stuff home, too. For Christmas you are all getting mixed media/assemblage gifts made out of clock and lamp parts.
