The second year my husband and I were married, his mother, my dear, dear mother-in-law Mary gave us this sculpture ordered from the Sears catalog of this famous mother and child. Darned if I can remember the artists name, but I know one of you will remind me.
That was 1960 and she has always had a place of honor in my living room, no matter where we lived--or the place I live now as a divorced woman in Redondo Beach. These days she always sits on my fireplace mantel. Behind her is a lace screen I purchased at a garage sale at least 20 years ago.
I have ongoing journal groups in my living room and occasionally see directees there when I do spiritual direction. Everyone loves this sculpture.
To see more Mary's, visit Rebecca at Recuerda mi Corazon to see her work and links to all of us who are part of this project.
