I took great care and poured a lot of love into this art journal page. Commander Joseph and Mrs. Margaret Lee Chadwick were the founders of the school where I have worked for 21 years--Chadwick School. As the archivist, I have practically committed all her five books to memory, but it's her autobiography, “Looking at the Sunset Upsidedown,” I love the most. A school marm in Nevada, she decided she needed to take a break and determine where she wanted life to go. Her brother, Paul Lee, a Naval officer, was stationed in China at the time and while there, he introduced her to a handsome, young naval officer who swept her off her feet. How I love reading and rereading the chapters about their whirlwind courtship and marriage. Both the Chadwicks had passed away when I came to work at the school, but after all the research I've done, I actually feel like part of their family. They were married for 49 years when Commander died in 1970. Margaret died in 1984 and a brief story is handwritten on this page. They are my Valentines of the Year in 2012!
