This SoulCollage® card is my blessing for the Halloween/Samhain season.
I am the one who always looked forward to Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, since I was a kid. It’s only been in the last 25 years that I became aware of its origins in Gaelic/Celtic culture. Though the ancient Celts believed the worlds of the living and dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and could possibly cause havoc with the harvest, I am the one who has instead embraced the holiday as a time of transformation, wonder and fun. I am the one who likes to pretend that I am in an ancient forest, and dancing around a bonfire, only mine will be in the fireplace next to my ofrenda. The Celts wore masks and costumes to mimic the evil spirits or appease them and I am the one who will watch the little kids at my school’s parade do just that--and then remember those happy childhood days of trick or treating in the neighborhood.
