Some photos take my breath away and fortunately I have several friends who share their travel photos with me. My friends Mary and Don Hardy recently visited Africa and when we had lunch last Friday, she brought a few photos she is debating about enlarging. Many were of the animals they encountered, but this photo has haunted me ever since; Mary says I can share it with you.
Zimbabwe's Victoria falls is 1,708 meters wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 550,000 cubic metres of water plummet over the edge every minute.
And I was blown away by Niagara Falls. Now I'm trying to remember the spectacular water falls in South America. Maybe I'll re-watch The Mission tonight where there were also gorgeous falls. I will admit that I love Rainbow Falls in Red's Meadow in Mammoth Lakes, CA. I don't think I could make the climb back up these days but I remember so vividly visiting there with my friend Barbara many years ago and actually going behind the falls. I'm not a very adventuresome person, so this was a big deal for me.
What is the most spectacular water fall you've ever seen?
