After work I had an adventure in search of Dia de los Muertos supplies. Our Spanish teacher at school told me to try Northgate Market in Wilmington, and though I didn’t find pan de muertos, paper papeles or sugar skulls there, I found three of the friendliest butchers in town instead--and lots of other good stuff. I bought asada el pastor, shrimp ceviche, and pollo patties, which had nothing to do with what I went shopping for. I did take some pictures along the way, however. I love living in California. We have access to some of the best ethnic food in the country. Next week I’ll go to the Middle Eastern market. I did find piñatas, nopales, maize, asada, and some very nice people. I highly recommend this market. Double click the photos to enlarge them.
My haiku is after the last photo.
I found piñatas
Nopales, maize, asada,
No pan muertos.
