This is one of the parishoners, Helen, of Christ Episcopal Church in Redondo Beach and she turned 102 a week ago. With her is David, our Music Director, who picks her up every Sunday and has for years, to bring her to church. After church there was a wonderful potluck in the hall and Helen had a great time.
Living into our hundreds is much more common than the "olden" days; I actually have an aunt in Florida who just turned 105! In my sister's independent living facility in Washington she says there are five people over 100. I still think it's a "major big-deal" to reach the triple digits.
