Variation on Botticelli created in Polyvore by Redondowriter
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the final day of Twelve Days of Mary Love hosted by Rebecca Brooks at Recuerda mi Corazon.
This Polyvore set does not feature a Guadalupe image but it is the Mary detail in Botticelli's Magnificat Madonna. I find her face to be so exquisite that I wanted to "borrow" her to make my own creation. Just staring at her surrounded by other images I have chosen to include brings me a sense of momentary peace. If you visit Rebecca's site, I'm sure there will be lots of Guadalupes for you to see. I love the Guadalupe story and flash back to when I visited her shrine in Mexico many years ago.
Rebecca, thanks for hosting us--and thanks to all of you who participated. I'm not sure I would have had the same quality of life I've had the past 12 days if I hadn't had this meme to look forward to. Being with Mary and being with all of you has been a blessing.
The Prayer Of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
(Lk 1:46-55)
