The PhotoHunter theme for this week is Mother/Mom. This is my mom when she was 15. She was born on Oct. 11, 1898 and died on Dec. 14, 1967. She gave birth to five daughters and there isn't a day goes by, even all these years after her death, that I don't think of her. Thanks, mom and dad, for the gift of life.

Garage, estate sales, thrifts, as well as discount coupons, are a few of my addictions. Today was an exceptionally productive day. Two garage sales--art supplies, this beautiful piece of fabric, books, and $12 spent. Then I went to Joann's where all the paper craft supplies were on sale--and I had a 50% off coupon for this 10 drawer rolling organizer. That was a lot more than $12, but 50% off of what it would have been. I didn't go through the depression, but my parents and sisters did. It rubbed off.
My son called this afternoon to tell me, via my daughter-in-law, that tomorrow was large item trash pick-up in their neighborhood--one giant free garage sale, my son said. Oh, Lord. I blushed over the phone. Even my DIL knows my addiction. I tell myself that I'm lucky I'm not drawn to the mall and the high end department stores. I promise I won't dumpster dive.
How I love the weekly post that Lorna at Lorna in Wonderland does each week. She calls it
PhotoHunter Theme and takes her own photo with her webcam; she has a very zany
sense of humor so each post brings me to tears laughing.

at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels at last
fall’s Red Mass. By the way, if you have never visited L.A.'s Cathedral, be sure to go there if you are in town. It is very minimalist and very beautiful.
